Please clarify - is it r2d2 or luke skywalker? - traffic cop

At times, nothing slows down traffic more than a traffic cop situation of directing traffic.

First and most importantly, are the traffic cop directives superceding the traffic lights?  There should be clear DOT laws on this.

The worse situations are “sometimes it is and sometimes it is not” - these scenarios slow down the traffic even more (not knowing to go on green)and some may create dangerous collision scenarios (at the interjunction where one goes on green and the other goes as well perpendiculary on the cop directive).

Traffic cops are needed mostly on jam scenarios where the cars are constantly stuck in the middle of the interjunction,  stopping traffic travelling perpendicularly. This could easily be avoided by passing a law to not allow cars to cross into the box without first detecting an empty car length space  outside the box - idu published  an article on this years ago .

It is ok to be pacman- 4 way traffic

There are always those interjunctions of 4 way traffic  with cars stuck in the middle of the box due to lateness to make a turn.

Under this complex scenario, instead of making that complex left turn, it will be wiser and safer to make a right turn and then come back from the right side.

It takes more time, more turns to be pacman but saves you the headache and stress of taking unnecessary risk.

“Is that Superman to the rescue? I look up and it’s a bridge.” - for bicycles.

Ever since nyc initiated those bicycle lanes on roads, burden has never been higher on the driver to look out for those bicycles, especially those swishing by at high speed.

To eliminate accidents, what about building overhead bridges one level above ground for these bicycles?

Be Skippy the Peanut Sauce - it is more than ok to skip an exit

Skip one, no problem.

Skip another one, no problem.

Skip a 3rd  one, you are now Skippy the champ.

Being Skippy the champ isn't all that bad.  It may even save your life.

We live in a hustle and bustle society, constantly rushing to get things done, items to check off our to-do list.   For driving, that could be a negative mindset if we gamble on safety by impatiently changing lanes to force turns or exits, especially on highways.

In driving, we need to form a habit of  "if we miss, that is ok. "

Or better yet, "if we miss, that is admirable.'   or  "if we miss, we are the Champs"

Time loss or extra time spent is far worth it compared to risky Safety. Even an  apology of being late or missing an event entirely far beats risking Safety.

Have a peanut butter sandwich. Be Skippy.

R2D2 is expensive. Is that BB8 cheaper?- auto audio warning

After all these years, auto audio warning technology is limited to no seat belt warning. It is time to expand into other critical areas.

One critical area is to warn of in-coming traffic before opening the car door to exit.

Another critical area is to warn to lock your car if  your car is stationary- to prevent burglar break in.  Most cars do auto lock only if car has moved certain distance.

Dear car manufacturers, please do work on these. Or you can build and give  us a r2d2  or bb8 instead.  Thank you.

“Oh Majectic sun ! this is not that kryptonite moment!” - auto tint technology on windshield

As auto car tint technology increased in variety - such as auto front mirror tint to reduce glare - one critical tint technology is missing.

How many times during sun rise or sun set that the sun is shinning straight at us with glare so strong we cannot have road vision, causing a dangerous situation.

Sure we could pull the front shield  down- doesnt always work to provide enough visibility- or find that sunglasses ( if one could find them when one needs them!?), but wont it be nice and correct to have auto tinting  on the driver windshield during those moments?

Dear car manufacturers, please be santa and not scrooge. Thank you.

Rub rub “Magic Lamp, please give me lamp….” - bad light alert in driving

In recent years, car sensor technology has increased in variety for safety.

But somehow, one that is very critical is lacking.  An alert to tell us if the car has any malfunctioned lights - headlights, high beam, signal lights etc.

Till the day we all become jedi and drive without lights, authorities should  get car manufacturers to work on this quickly.
